Writer and director Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) plays Jesse Fisher, a 35-year-old disillusioned with his career and depressed about his love life. On visiting his now-retiring former college professor (played by Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins) he meets a young student, Zibby (Elizabeth Olsen, Martha Marcy May Marlene), who reinvigorates him despite his reservations about the gaps in their age and maturity.
The warm and witty script treats Jesse’s navel-gazing with gentle cynicism and he starts to realise the universal truth as told by his professor: “Nobody feels like an adult.”
