Følsgaard won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin Film Festival for his portrayal of the increasingly erratic King who comes into conflict with the modernising, idealistic Struensee, unaware that the doctor is secretly cuckolding him. What follows is one of the most dramatic stories in European history, as the lovers become revolutionary partners-in-crime in the struggle between the Enlightenment and tradition.
