Crispin Glover is back to present his Big Slide Show. This event will feature him performing a one-hour dramatic narration of his profusely illustrated books, followed by the first film in the 'It' trilogy along with Q&A and book signing.
WHAT IS IT? is part one of the IT trilogy and premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim.
Later in the same year the film also won Best Narrative Film at the Ann Arbor Film Festival along side Crispin being awarded the prestigious Maverick Award from the
Method Fest which was presented to him by esteemed film director Werner Herzog.
Featuring a cast largely comprised of actors with Down's Syndrome, the film is not
about Down's Syndrome. Crispin once described it as being "...the adventures of a
young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe and how to get home
whilst being tormented by a hubristic racist inner psyche." In addition to writing and
directing WHAT IS IT?, Crispin also appears in the film in the role of "Dueling Demi-
God Auteur and The young man's inner psyche." Fairuza Balk voices one of the
snails. The soundtrack makes use of Wagner and Bartok excerpts to ironic effect, as well as tracks by late Church of Satan high priest Anton LaVey, Charles Manson and a country track by artist Johnny Rebel.
