1hr 36mins , USA 2008. Written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.  With Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Richard Jenkins.

The Coen Brothers (No Country for Old Men) return to their darkly comic roots with the story of CIA agent Osbourne Cox (John Malkovich) who is blackmailed by two gym employees, Chad (Brad Pitt) and Linda (Frances McDormand).  After finding a disc containing Cox’s memoirs in the gym where they work, the two hatch a scheme to blackmail the CIA agent in order to pay for Linda’s plastic surgery.  Meanwhile, Cox’s wife is starting divorce proceedings in secret and having an affair with womanising Treasury agent Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney) who is also tasked with recovering the disc. The action descends into chaos and the characters into paranoia in this satirical spy thriller where even the CIA haven’t a clue.

"A tightly wound, slickly plotted spy comedy." - The Guardian

"Funny, sometimes delightful" - Roger Ebert
