Yesterday saw Durkan start work on the restoration of The Phoenix. That sentence gives me much pleasure to write.
Over the next few days the site compound will be set up, already the huge blue containers for the site office, storage and a canteen have been delivered as well the all important toilets.

Today saw the first scaffold being erected to allow high level works on the North wall to start.

Durkan’s site manager, Pat O’Sullivan, is a local and remembers seeing Paris, Texas at The Phoenix years ago. Well who could forget Nastassja Kinski in that mohair jumper!

I realised that most of the team are local. Our architect is based in Highgate, the electrical and mechanical consultant lives in East Finchley and the structural engineers are based in Islington.
