In The Awakening, the new British film set in 1920s England, Rebecca Hall plays a woman who spends her time debunking supernatural claims. When she accepts a request to go to Rookwood, a boarding school in the countryside where a boy has recently been found dead, however, a spectral encounter defies her beliefs and sets her on a journey towards a heartbreaking climax.
