Welcome To Our New Website

Welcome to the brand new Phoenix Cinema website.
For the past couple of months – in parallel with our Centenary Restoration Project – we’ve been working on completely revamping The Phoenix website. The aim has been to make the site easier to use, simpler to navigate and easier for us to update.
What’s Changed
We’ve moved the whole site to a content management system, which means that we can make changes to the whole site much more quickly. The new site integrates with our ticketing system, meaning that the film details you see on the site are always accurate and up to date. You’ll be able to book online for any screening just by clicking a button.
New Blogs
Because the new site is built around a highly customised version of WordPress, we can bring all our blogs together in one place. You’ll find it all in the Phoenix News section.
You’ll be seeing a lot more behind the scenes post from Phoenix staff in the future, so why not take a moment to subscribe to our RSS feed right now.
Phoenix Calendar
As well as our comprehensive new What’s On page (somewhat empty until we reopen!), we’ve introduced a new way to find out what’s coming up right from your desktop!
If you use calendaring software such as Apple’s iCal or Google Calendar, you can now have it automatically show every performance at The Phoenix in the next seven days. All you need to do is subscribe to our iCal calender at:
http://www.phoenixcinema.co.uk/whatson/?output=ical
We’ll be adding a comprehensive guide on how to do that in a range of different software soon.
Found A Problem?
The site is very new, so there may be the odd teething problem, but if you do spot anything out of the ordinary, or just want to give us feedback on the new site, please get in touch.
Finally, don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, add us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube channel. We keep them all updated regularly and we’d love to see you there!

To the Cinema manager Cassie and web dev Dom Ramsey
Your new site as good looking as it might be, seems to have a major flaw in its design,
it has taken me over 5 mins to find any films that might be showing at your cinema.
I still haven’t found anything, and have now given up.
As a cinema site I believe making it clear and simple to get to the films you are showing
should be the primary function of the site this is where you have failed.
If you would like me to give you more constructive consultancy, please email me back directly.
I’m a creative director for a global advertising agency and have 14 years of web and digital experiences.
Cheers

Oh, Neil. The cinema is currently closed for restoration and not showing any films. This is mentioned many, many times on the site.
when are you reopening, please?
I was also frustrated trying to find showing times. I also logged on to your main screen looking for films and I didn’t see any mention of the closure.
We are reopening early September, approximately from the weekend of the 10th. The website will automatically update once the film times are confirmed. If you want to make sure you know times, do get in contact (http://www.phoenixcinema.co.uk/aboutus/contact/) and you can be added to the mailing list.
While I’m here, I just wanted to mention that our full and comprehensive education page is live! Heritage, Kids Club, schools – oh my!

How funny, it’s pretty obvious that Phoenix is closed and completing a major restoration.
Can’t wait for next week!
Cheers Chris! It’s going to be great!
Your website says on the home page Tamara Drew Now Showing and on the same page it says that it isn’t and the cinema is still closed! Sort it out!
Hi Stephen,
The cinema opens on Friday with Tamara Drewe. “Now Playing” is an indication that there’s a performance of the film this week.
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date with what’s been going on during the restoration. The website is more than informative and the wealth of info much appreciated. Keep up the good work!
